I am running to be your Ward 5 councillor in this Fall’s upcoming municipal election. Like so many of you I have chosen to make Midhurst my home and raise my family. Big changes are on the horizon for us and we need strong representation.

I am running to ensure the voters have their tax dollars respected and maintain the services they deserve. With Springwater’s population set to drastically increase we need to ensure services improve to reflect this growth. Like many residents, I feel we are underserviced and this will only worsen with the secondary plan expansion. As your councillor I am committed to having Police, Fire, and EMS services that will mirror our growth. Managing our resources and understanding our budget is the cornerstone of how I will deliver improved services.

It may be boring but, the budget is one of the most important things to the residents of Springwater and it directly translates to the level of taxation you will pay. As a resident I have taken the time to familiarize myself with our budgets and the expenses we incur. I fully realize that managing the finances of Springwater is a major undertaking and if done well, will leave money in your pocket. I have the managerial and financial background to scrutinize the yearly Springwater budget. Managing your tax dollars to keep our taxes low is my focus.

Agricultural and environmentally protected lands need to be preserved. I do not take development and rezoning lightly and firmly believe environmentally protected (EP) land is not to be developed. Agricultural land is disappearing globally and Springwater is no exception. Having much needed farming area rezoned to benefit developers does not sit well with me. Maintaining the buffer zone that separates us from Barrie is a must for Springwater and our Ward. Keeping Springwater green is my priority.

Like you, I want Springwater to grow and prosper. We don’t want to see Midhurst become another Barrie suburb. Responsibly managing Springwater’s growth has never been more important than now. Investments in infrastructure to control traffic flow and curb speeding in our residential areas is critical. I am in full support of major improvements to Forbes Rd and Craig Rd. I will push to have Forbes Rd connect the 400 Hwy to 27 Hwy as it runs along the new secondary plan subdivision. These improvements will greatly reduce vehicle congestion and speeding in our village. It will also divert the weekend traffic that is increasing dangerously in our community by diverting it at its source.

I will commit myself to working alongside my fellow councillors to ensure winning outcomes for not only our Ward but all Springwater. I will make sure ward 5 residents have their concerns heard in council. With so many changes happening to Midhurst and surrounding area you need to have a competent representative in Council.
